ESV Bible Firefox Ubiquity Command
What is Ubiquity?
Ubiquity is a Firefox plugin that lets you use a command line in the browser.
What Does This Command Do?
The ESV Command lets you search the ESV Bible anywhere on the web from Ubiquity. Want to look up the text of John 3:16? Press Ctrl+space, type "esv john 3:16" and watch the text of the verse appear.
How Do I Install It?
- Install Ubiquity.
- Visit this page in Firefox.
- Click the "Subscribe..." button in the bar at the top of the page. The bar tells you that a Ubiquity command is available.
- Click the "I know what I'm doing. Subscribe to it!" button at the bottom of the scary-looking page that appears. (Review the code on the page first, if you'd like.) Feel free to check the "Auto-update this feed" option. As the warning notes, the HTTP protocol is insecure and susceptible to certain kinds of attacks.
- You can now use the "esv" command anywhere on the web.

How Do I Use It?
- In Firefox, press Ctrl+space (or whatever key combination you've set up).
- Type "esv john 3:16" (or whatever verse or words you want). It works best with short verses. You can also highlight a word or passage reference on any webpage, open Ubiqutiy, and type "esv" to search the ESV for that word or passage.
